Jay Thomas
Business Development and Trial Strategy

Jay Thomas brings Anchor Point a rare combination of trial experience, business ownership, and practical insight into how everyday people process information, arguments, and credibility.
Jay graduated from law school in 1997 alongside Anchor Point's founder, Greg, who later became his first law partner. Early in his legal career, Jay developed extensive jury trial experience in both criminal defense and insurance defense, giving him firsthand exposure to the courtroom, trial preparation, witness presentation, and the pressures lawyers face when trying to communicate complex facts to a jury.
In 2003, Jay began building an Allstate Insurance agency as a complementary business to his real estate title work. By 2007, the agency had grown to the point that Jay transitioned out of the active practice of law and focused exclusively on building the business. Over the next 20 years, he grew and operated the agency as an exclusive agency owner before selling it in 2023.
During that time, Jay earned many of Allstate’s highest honors, including Chairman’s Inner CircleElite, reserved for the top 1% of agencies nationwide, as well as Chairman’s Circle, National Conference, Honor Ring, and Regional Rookie of the Year recognition.
Jay’s path to Anchor Point began when Greg invited him to participate as a mock juror. Having been out of the active practice of law for some time, that experience sparked Jay’s interest in the gap between how lawyers present a case and how lay people actually receive, understand, and react to the information. Today, Jay helps expand Anchor Point’s business reach while working with trial lawyers to test themes, sharpen presentations, and better understand what real jurors care about before they get to trial.
Jay has been married to his wife, Terrel, for 28 years. They have three sons, AJ, Jackson, and Harrison, all graduates of Catholic High School in Baton Rouge and LSU. Outside of work, Jay and his family enjoy tennis, golf, hunting, and fishing. Jay and Terrel are parishioners of St. Aloysius Church and are also active supporters of CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children, and volunteers with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Baton Rouge.
